Bolt caught hers gaze, looking deeply into her eyes. He could see the truths in her mind and knew how much she missed him. In the past, she had been slightly put off by his gentleness. Now it was exactly what she needed. She knew it was completely and totally wrong under the current circumstances, but as she had said, old habits die hard. To be one with her again was exquisite, and he allowed himself to flow against the tide of her conscience so she could again find peace in his touch.

“Having fun, bitch?” Keir asked in a dark voice as he stepped through the mirror.

Jace came in after him, his face set in a mask of anger. “You gave up your rights to her when you passed her on to me, Bolt. Who the fuck do you think you are? You are interfering where you are no longer wanted. The horny bitch obviously doesn’t know any better, but she has a lot to learn.”

Bolt released her. “Nice to see you both, oh bringers of misery. I have no idea what the hell is wrong with the two of you, but you are not taking her back to kill her.”

“We are not going to kill her,” Keir replied, as if the comment were utterly absurd. “We have no intention of killing her. She is ours, sealed to us in joining, and we honor those vows. Unlike her. She does, however, need to learn her place in life. We have yet to teach her that.”

“Come on, Aria,” Jace said, holding out his hand to her. “It is time to go home. The boys are hungry and we are out of milk to feed them. You have had your fun, and we forgive you.”

An idea seemed to strike her as a sly smile flashed on her face. Then the expression faded as she turned to go to Jace. Bolt grabbed her arm. “What are you doing?”

She threw an image to him with her eyes. Bolt frowned, but released her. Aria walked as if she were filled with shame. Her head was down and her eyes cast to the floor. She walked coyly up to Jace, leaning into him and looking up slowly. Her voice was meek and her eyes filled with tears. “I have been so bad. I am so sorry. I promise I will do better. I want only to serve you and the boys. I only gave myself to Bolt because I was so hot thinking about you and Keir. You made me afraid, Jace, and I only want your love.”

She was such a convincing little imp.
